#4 Dark Room PhotographyDark room photography was actually way more fun than I expected. Firstly, taking pictures with the 35mm camera was really challenging. I never would have thought that I would have to take notes about the pictures I took. Our first attempts didn't come out very well, but after using our phone to preview the pictures we saw much better results. The top picture was taken with a F-stop of 22 and a shutter speed of 1/125. The bottom picture was taken with a F-stop of 5.6 and a shutter speed of 1/2000. After taking pictures we still had to develop them. The developing process was very interesting. I wasn't excited to work in the darkroom at first because the smell of the chemicals was rather gross. I got used to it eventually and the process turned out to be pretty easy. We first put the negative into the negative carrier and then shined the light to make sure the negative was aligned right and that the picture was in focus. Next, we set the photo paper in place and shined the light again to expose the picture. For both of these photos we shined the light for 4 seconds. After this we took the paper to the chemical stations. The first station was the developer, where we soaked the paper until the picture started to fade in. The second station was the stop bath where we soaked the paper for 10 secs. The third station was the fixer. We left the paper in the fixer for 2 minutes, and once it was in the fixer we were finally able to turn on the lights without harming the photo. The last station was the water rinse, where we got all the chemicals of the paper. After this we hung up the photos to dry. When we came back the next day we where able to show off our sweet pictures. |
#5 PhotoshopFor our fifth and final skills practice, we were tasked with combining two photos in Adobe Photoshop. The first photo showed just the crocs by themselves, and a person was standing on them in the second photo. Using the transform tool to resize the images to match, and the erase tool to remove the legs, I made it seem like a shadow was being cast from nothing. Here is the final result.
